RIWAKA
BOXING ASSOCIATION FORMED A public meeting was held recently in the Riwaka Hall to consider the advisability of forming an Amateur Boxing Association. . Mr E. L. Beusemann, who was votetl to the chair, spoke in favour of the pioposition, and asked others present to express their views. . Mr D. McLean considered that the forming of an association would receive the support of the public, and advised that they go right ahead. He also gave an outline of the procedure necessary. Mr E. Siglev stated that to run the first tournament it would cost from £SO to £6O, the purchase of ring, gloves, trophies, etc., being no small matter. Mr E. J. Wills promised his support if an association was formed. Hollowing further discussion it was resolved (Messrs Sigley and McLean) i that,an Amateur Boxing Association be; formed, and that it be called the R-iwaka-Motueka Amateur Boxing Association. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Officers elected were:—President, Mr Harrv Manoy; vice-presidents. Messrs S. P.‘ Clay, J. N. Walker. E, Winks, L. Fry, L. Drummond, F. Bowers, J. A. Smith, E. J. Wills, Jack Goodall, Reg. Rowling, S. Rowling, S. E. Ilulbert, 11. Bradley. A. D. Batt, E. Trevena, N. Ross, 11. Hart, 11. L. Goodman, F. Rogers, E. B. Stohr, and G. Boundy; secretary and treasurer. Mr E. L. Bensemann; lion, surgeon, Dr. Pearless; executive committee, Messrs E. J. Wills, L. Manoy, S. B. Canavan, J. A, Wallace and Dr. Green. It was decided that an executive meeting he held at an early date. The secretary has since reported that the association is likely to meet with much success, several lads being already in training.
