BRITAIN’S CONGRATULATIONS
TO NEW FRENCH PREMIER (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 31st July. Thj Foreign Secretary addressed the following telegram to Monsieur Briand on the. occasion of his becoming Prime Minister of France: “I beg to offer your excellency jnv heartiest congratulations on your assumption once more of the high office which you have filled with such distinction in the past. I Jook forward to the pleasure of congratulating you personally when we meet shortly to collaborate in furthering the outlook of pacification.” VOTE OF CONFIDENCE (Received Ist August, 12.10 p.in.) PARIS, 31st July. The Chamber, after passing a vote of confidence in M. Briand by 325 votes to 130, rose for the summer recess.
