BRITISH COTTON INDUSTRY
COMMITTEE OF INQUIRY (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 31st August. The Prime Minister has appointed the following sub-committee of the Committee of Civil Research to enquire into the cotton industry: Mr Graham (President of the Board of Trade), chairman; Mr Alexander (First Lord of the Admiralty) ; Sir Alan Anderson, Mr Joseph Jones, and Sir William McLintock. The terms of reference will be “to consider and report upon the present condition and prospects of the cotton industry and make recommendations as to any action which may appear desirable and practical in order to improve the position of this industry in the markets of the world.” Mr Jones is secretary to the Yorkshire Mill Owners’ Association; Sir William McLintock is senior partner of Thomson, McLintock and Company, chartered accountants, and has been a member of the Royal Commission on Income Tax, the National Debt and Taxation Commit, tees, ami ihe Unemployment Insurance Committee.
