JULY’S RAIN

A RECORD MONTH TIIRfCE THE AVERAGE Last month with a rainfall of 9.21 inches is- a record July for Nelson. The nearest approach to it was in 1916 when 7.90 inches was recorded. July 1917 is next with 7.74 inches and July 1909 with 7.43 inches. In 1927 5.39 inches was recorded during July and last year 3.20 inches. The average over a 44 year period from 1883 to 1926 is only 3.34 inches. Last month nearly a third of the total rainfall for the year so far (31.13 inches) fell. It will be'remembered that nearly all this rain fell during two short periods during both of which flood conditions were general.
