“GOING UP”
AN APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC
(To the Editor) Sir.—l would like through the columns of your paper, to make an appeal to the public of Nelson to give their generous support to the forthcoming production of “Going Up,” to be produced at the Majestic Theatre for a three nights’ season, commencing on Tuesday next. The Nelson Amateur Operatic Society has generously decided to devote the, whole of the net proceeds of the Nelson season to the Earthquake. Relief Fund. This should mean the handing over of a substantial cheque to the fund. Usuallv the Society plays to a half-full house the first night, and many people are turned away for the remaining four nights, so on account of it being th<> Society’s first performance in the new theatre, and the season is reduced from five to 11 1 roc nights (owing to the fine accommodation at the Majestic) 1 wouid earnestly appeal to the public to give the opening night— Tuesday next—their support. This will also help the Earthquake Relief Fund eensideiahlv. —l am, ole., W.'D. STONEY JOHNSTON. President, Nelson Amateur Operatic Society.
