The Rev. W. E. Gillam, vicar of Point Chevalier, who will be remembered for his work in a number of the Anglican parishes in various parts of New Zealand, and on the hospital ships during the war, died at Auckland on Tuesday at the age of 73. Mr Gillam was for twenty years in charge of St. Matthew's Parish", Auckland. His first parishes were on the West Coast, where he became an intimate friend of the late Mr Richard John Seddon.
.The death of'Mr Charles W. Peterson took place at Westport a few days ago. Deceased, who was eighty-nine years of age, was born in Denmark and was known among the old goldminers as "Copenhagen Charlie." He came to New Zealand sixty-one years ago, and followed gold rushes to many parts of the West Coast. He had neve'r married, and had no known relatives in New Zealand.
Mr G. H. Holford, B.Ag., New Zealand representative of Imperial Chemical Industries, who has been visiting Nelson, left for Blenheim this afternoon. During his stay here he visited the Caw> thron. Institute in connection with the manurial experiments that are being conducted.
