POLICE RAIDS
CHARGES.UNDER GAMING ACT (Bj Telazraph—Press AesouUtion) HAWERA,This Day. As the result of police raids five men were charged at the Magistrate's Court under the Gaining Act. Thomas Henderson Tecsdale pleaded guilty to conducting a common gaming house and was lined £SO. Herbert Allen, charged with •carrying on the business of a bookmaker, keeping a common gaming house and loitering in the street for the purpose of betting; William Elder, charged with assisting in the management ot a gaming house; Thomas Council and Edward La very,, charged with being found in a gaming house, each pleaded not guilty and were remanded on bail.
