NELSON COLLEGE OLD BOYS
RE-UNION AT CHRISTCHURCH (By Teloeraph-Spooial to "Th* Mall") CriUISTCHURCJI, 18t|i July. About forty old boys of Nelson soljego ({.atlKjreij at ati annua) reunion of the Ltiristchurch Branch of the Association. The President, Mr T. 11. Williams, was in the chair. The toast of "The College" was proposed by Mr H. A. Young S.M. He referred to Ihe damage done to the College by the earthquake, but assured the •gathering that however the building had been shaken, the. tradition and spirit of the College remained as /inn as ever. Alter the College Song had 'been given, Mr G. F. J. Dart replied. He stressed the need for all old boys to support their school. In proposing "The Masters," Mr L. R. Palmer referred to the many old boys holding positions as headmasters in secondary schools of the Dominion. Nelson College had always been fortunate in its choice of staff, he said, and many who had served their apprenticeship at the school were, now holding responsible positions elsewhere in the teaching profession. Mr T. S. Menteath replied. "Kindred Associations' 1 was proposed by Mr W. J. Walker. Messrs J. R. Montgomery (Otago Boys' High School), L. J. Lecren (Christ's College), and A. 1). Tench (Christchurch Boys' High School) replied. Reminiscences were 'given by Mr C. A. Cooper. , Dr. A. C. Aeoart was at the piano and iMessrs C Harraway, B. Holt, W. Laurenson and J. R. Lester contributed items.
