COAL DISPUTE
CONFERENCE BREAKS DOWN (United Freai Association—By Elootrio Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 18th July. Less than half an hour's discussion today sounded the death knell of the conference between the mining industry unions and the coal proprietors arranged by the Coal Commission. The unions stated that they had nothing to offer in the way of a compromise and the owners had no solution which would satisfy all parties. A. joint statement to this effect was issued by the representatives of the parties at the close of the conference.
The Coal Commission thereupon re sumetl its investigation.
