Dillon Weston, of the University School of Agriculture at Cambridge. Mr Weston slates that ho undertook many flights in an endeavour lo trace how plant and crop diseases spread, and proved that the spores and bacteria wore found at great heights. A large number of bacteria were active even two miles above tlie earth.

Gibson, Postmaster-General, whose speech was relayed 200 miles by. telephone from Canberra. The speeches and a special opening programme were broadcast from 2FC and the rece.plion in Nelson was excellent. Sir Benjamin Fuller was one of the prime movers in the. establishment, of the new service.
