OBITUARY

MBS CAROLINE LLMMER There passed away at her home, Tottenham Rise, Lower Moutere, last week an old and respected resident in the person of Mrs Caroline Limnier. The late Mrs Li miner, who was born at Reading, in Berkshire, England, in 1840, was the daughter of,Mr Henry Button, of that town. In 187f> she married Mr Thomas Craven Demment, a surveyor, who was practising in London. In 1877 they moved to Tonbridge Wells and, on being medically advised that Mr Demment’s health would he benefited by a long sea voyage, left for New Zealand by the s.s. Sydenham in November, 1880, arriving in Wellington in March, 1881. After spending a year in Wellington they came to Richmond in 1882, where Mr Demment died in 1888. In 1887 Mrs Demment was married to Mr George Dimmer and moved to the Lower Moutere where she tiad resided ever since. Mr Dimmer predeceased his wife in 1911, and early in 1914 Mrs Dimmer and her daughter, Miss Demment, paid a visit to England returning in November of the same year. Being of a particularly bright and sunny disposition Mrs Dimmer made many friends and was much respected and loved by all who knew her. She leaves one daughter, Miss Minnie Demment, of Lower Moutere. The death has occurred of Commissioner Booth Tucker, of the Salvation Army, aged 76. He married a daughter of William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, and inaugurated the work of the Army in India. He also' commanded the'Army forces in the United States for several years.
