CALEDONIAN SOCIETY MEETING At a meeting of the Motueka Calodonian Society held in the. High School i there were present: Messrs J. Thomson (president), C. Thomson, J. T. Brough, L. Fry, R. Taylor, D. Goodall, E. Trevena and B. V. Warren. The secretary reported that the subcommittee set up; to go into the question of the formation of a pipe band had advertised for second-hand bag-pipes and had received a number of replies. I .Subsequent to a brief discussion it was decided (1) that a pipe band, under the jurisdiction of the Motueka Cnle- ; donian Society, be formed; (2) that Mr J. Topp be appointed tutor m nccord- : mice with the recommendation of the ■ sub-committee.] i The matter of procuring chanters for | practice was left .to -Mr Brough and the ' pipe major (Mr Topp). j Letters relative to second-hand bag--1 pipes were handed to M'r Brough, who along with Mr Topp will make a selection. An expenditure not exceeding £lO was authorised for band requisites—reeds, music, etc. With reference to the proposed Scottish concert, it was decided to defer consideration of this matter for one month. The chairman intimated that Mr C. Thomson had tendered his resignation as secretary of the Society as he was shortly leaving for Upper Moutere. On'the motion of Messrs Brough and Goodall, it was resolved that the secretaires resignation he accepted with regret and that the Society wish him every success in his new sphere. Mr B. V. Warren was elected secretary for the remainder of the current year.
