PRODUCE MORE THAN FRENCH REMARKABLE STATISTICS (United Press Association—By Electric , Tal««rraph—(Jopyrisrbu (Aus'xaliaa Press Association) PARIS, 15th July. Max Lambert, the well-known French agriculturist, has published some' remarkable statistics showing that English pro duction is superior to Freneu, contrary to the general belief in France. The production per hectare (2147 acres) in Biitain. is. wheat 20.8 cwts, in France it is ]2 cwts: barlev. 20.3. France 14.5: oats, 20.4, France' 15.1: potatoes. 149.5, France 75.2: beet sugar 208, France 211. M. Lambert expresses the opinion that this is not due to ihe English soil being more fertile, but the judicious use of manures and more clever drainage and irrigation, and the use of more perfect machinery.. Moreover. France is suffering from excessive splitting up of properties.
