STANLEY BROOK

At the meeting of householders held in Stanley Brook school, , Mr M. K.' Forsyth was in the chair. The following committee was elected—Messrs, H. J. Wells (chairman and secretary)’, W. T. Barker, A. N, Wilkinson, C. Fenemor and A. F. Barker.

RICHMOND

The annual meeting of householders was held on Monday evening and a : large-number of householders gathered in the schoolroom to hear the various reports arid to elect a new committee. MV Jas. Hunt occupied the chair. The annual report was read and showed - avery' satisfactory state of affairs and was a very creditable account- of the year’s work. The balance sheet showed a credit of £l2, 11s at the end of the financial year. Tlie Headmaster reported 231 on the roll, with an average att(en(dance of over 200,' The headmaster pointed, oat the necessity of householders sending their children regularly, as the grade of the school was only kept' up by average attendance and not bV the number On the roll. If the attendance fell below 200 we would lose a teachef. which meant a- drawback to the school generally. The inspector’s report spoko of a. very good tone throughout the whotfe school, and out of 20 children who sat for proficiency exam. 17 gained a proficiency and three a competency, which shows great credit to our teaching staff. A vote of thanks was passed to the teaching/staff and retiring committee. The election of nine committeemen was proceeded with, when 74 -householders voted, the result bfcing as follows i—Messrs G. IV. Baker, M. Hi Mis Glashen, 11. Newport, W. J. Coleman. A. F. Bell, E. Croueher, C» Beach, H. Glover and Rev. F. J. Daynes. Mr Baker was rc-electied chairman. Mr "MeGlashen was re-elected secretary.- “Ir Bell was elected treasurer.
