A French communique states : —We completed the capture of Frezcourt and penetrated Gombles 'Cemetery'. The prisoners already number eight hundred. The enemy's violent atta-cks on Thiaumont Work and Fleury failed with serious losses. Yesterday our aviators fought 47 combats. Our squadrons bombed many railways and factories. GUNS AND MATERIALS REMOVED. (Reuter's Telegrams.) ————— S (Rec. Sept. 27. 1.5 p.m.) PARIS, Sept. 26. Prior to yesterday's infantry attacks, the Germans commenced to evacuate Compiles, withdrawing many guns, material, and stores. From Ist July to 25th September, 250 enemy aeroplanes have been destroyed or brought down.
A GERMAN COMMUNIQUE. (Rec. SeDt. 2-7. 12.10 p.m.) " LONDON, Sept. 26. communique says:—On the fourth day of the artillery battle between the Ancre and the Somme the Franco-British made combined attacks. The results which the enemy obtained by capturing the villages on the Guendecourt .and Bouehavesnes line must be recognised, but before all we must think -of our heroes who faced the AngloFrench forces and the massed employment of materials prepared by the war industry of the whole world for many months.
