ACTION BYJHE TRUSTEES 1 COMMISSION OF .SCIENTISTS TO I VISIT NELSON. • We learn that the Trustees in the '• Oa.wth.ron estate are now considering what form the Cawtbron Institute -should take. The bequest is for "the purchase of land and erection and maintenance of an Industrial and Technical School, Institute and Museum." The trustees have for some time past been strongly of opinion that the Institute should be primarily concerned with research in connection with the ! resources and industries of the Nelson province, and they are now completing arrangement with certain of the leading scientists of New Zealand to j visit Nelson as a commission to advise I how best the wishes of the late Mr ! Cawthron can be practically carried out. The, amount available for capital cxI pendi-ture and endowment purposes will . probably bo between £160.000 and : £IBO,OOO. ( The commission is expected to visit i Nelson in January., so that the scheme should assume .practical form very ; shortly.
