Jefferies, -telegraphing from Athens, says the Cretan revolutionary movement has spread to the districts of Sphantia, Sellion, Kishamon, and Kidonia. The revolutionaries occupied Candia. After a. feeble resistance the regulars and gendarmeries joined the revolutionaries. There are 5000 insurgents near Canea. The Prefect telegraphed to the Government asking what he should be, as armed peasantry' were everywhere approaching the town. * ,"" THJRTY THOUSAND CRETANS UNDER ARMS. (Eec. Sept. 26, 11.20 a.m.) . LONDON. Sept. 25. The Daily Chronicle's Athens correspondent says there are now 30.000 Cretans under arms in the island, which is in their complete possession. Only 11 men remain in the Royal Cretan bodyguard.
