POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK RETURNS

(United Press Association.)

WEIJLIN'G'TON, Sept. 22. The Post Office Savings Bank deposits for July totalled' £1,393,493, exceeding the withdrawals by £372,759. On August the deposit's were £1.353,908 and the withdrawals £1,656,011, the withdrawals tlhus exceeding the deposits by £314,103.

For the first seven days of September the withdrawals, exceeded the deposits by £214,852. These -heavy withdrawals, it is pointed out, r ere made during ithe period l that the War Loan was open for subscription, and, in view of tihe fact that approximately £10,000,000 was raised in the Dominion for that purpose, it is considered remarkable that the Savings Bank finances were so slightly disturbed.
