■REPETITION OF SATURDAY'S PROGRAMME DISCUSSED. 4 The Daffodil Week Cbmmdibtee me* at Hallensteins' rooms last evening, there being a large (attendance, with) Mrs Lock in the chair. The prizes won on Saturday were distributed. Mrs Lock stated that it had. been suigigesited (to her personally and also in a letter to the Evening Mail that the Flower Queen crowning' ceremony and' the procession shonldJ be repeated afo Trafalgar Park next Monday (Dominion Day). The Lady Liverpool Committee, she said, now had) ample funds with ■whichi to provide Ohrismas gifts for the solcfliers, 'but on October 21st thei'e was to lb e a street collection in aid of the Red Cross, this being an Empire movement initiated by Lord! Lansdowne. If .Saturday's programme was repeated., an/ aid of the Red Cross, tnere would be no need for the street collectioni. Many people were unable to obtain a good view of Saturday's proceedings, and the suggestion to have a refpietitiion at Trafalgar Park next Monday was worthy of consideration. A discussion ensued, the general opinion being that it would! be too soon to repeat the programme on Monday. It was stated that Dominion Day was not a general holiday. It was suggested! that Labour Day, •might be a suitable day. It was eventually decided to let the matter remain in ofeeyanee for the present, though the feeling was unanimously in favour of a a future date. It was requested that the children's ! dresses and the car decorations! be skret served, dm view of t<he programme feeing | repeated on/ a date to' be decided on | later.
The art -union for tie large (pjalans was dirawn last evening, the winner 'being Mr H. Heather.
The -wedding cake -was also drawn for 'last eventing, the winner being "Jack" (Provincial Hotel), with ticket No.. 134. At the meeting of the Town Sjchols Committee last evening, Mr W. Mc■Oonchie referred to the (great success of Daffodil Day, and moved that'the committee tenders its congratulation© to the teachers, especially Miss Baigent, and the children, oni the efficient manner in which the Bnaaiches were executed. This was seconded' 'by Mr Easdale, and carried.
The girls from Oabraghi House, Hamp* den street, and Havent road l schools took part ini Saturday's proceedings'. The prize igivem by Miss Farni'e for the girl hringinig in the Highest amount for- .buttonholes sold on Daffodil Day waa won by Sheila Obaippell, -who raised 25s odd.
