HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED REPORT.
I The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, loth September, from the High Commismoner for New Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) : . Meat.— Owing to a large supply ot Dutch mutton English lambs are selling at comparatively low prices. I here is less demand' for all descriptions of frozen meat, with the result that lower prices are being accepted for Argentine mutton and lamb. New Zealand mutton, per lb, 8ld; ewe mutton. B£d . , Argentine mutton. B£d ; N.Z. lamb, lamb, 9±d; N.Z. bull beef, hinds- sid, fores 4W; N.Z. boneless beef. 6£d • Ar gentine chilled beef, hinds 9d. fores 7£d. Butter.—The market continues firm. Danish, salted, per cwt, 196s to 198s; Dutch, salted 180s to 182s, unsalted 182s to 184s; Irish creamery, salted l»4s to 188s, unsaltedlß6s to 100s; Canadian, salted 182s to 186s, unsalted 18s to xß3s ; N Z.. salted 186s to 188s. unsalted 188s to 190s; Airgentine, salt 182s to 184s, ansalted 186s to 188s ; American creamery, salted 1725. to 1765. Cheese.—The market is quiet, but steady Canadian, white 106s to 106s, coloured 105s to 106s; English Cheddar, 114 a to 116s • N.Z., the market is steady, white 104s to 106s. coloured 104s to 106s ; States flats, white 101s to 102s; States Cheddars, 102s to 103s. Hemp.—The market is firm with hardening tendency. Light shipments of hemp are expected from Manila Good fair New Zealand hemp, per ton, 10s fair £47 10s; Government graded fa:'r Manila £52, coarse £49 10s. Octo-ber-December shioment: Good fair N.Z. £49, fair £47; Government graded fair Manila. £sl, coarse £4B 10s. The outnut of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturdav was 25,000 bales. Storks of New Zealand hemp on hand at the end of August were 403 tons. Wheat.—The market remains firm, 'but quotatoins are nominally lower. Canadian, arrived, 68s od ; October-No-vember 66s 6d. $ Oats. —The market is firmer. Argentine, on spot, 32s 6d. Wool.—The market is firm with a strong demand for crossbreds.
