OHINEMURI LICENSING POLL PETITION.
[United Peess AssooiamonJ WAIHI, Thursday. The hearing of evidence in favour of the petition for capsizing the no-license poll for the Ohiucuiuri electorate has been, proceeding this week, there being 60 witnesses. The case__for the respondents, who have 35 witnesses, commenced this afternoon. Latere After, some "witnesses had been examined, Mr Adams submitted that the petition shofiTifbe dismissed, on the ground that no specific charge had been proved calculated to materially affect the result of the poll, and he would therefore apply to have the petition dismissed. Mr Skerrett, in reply, quoted many judgments and authorities in support of his contention that the vital principle of the. ballot vras' secresy, and this he urged liabl been -Violated: by the manner in which the poll had been conducted. The- ; Court deferred its decision in connection with Mr Adams' application till to-morrow morning.
