FALSE ENTRIES BY A BREWER. [Uhited Pbess Association.] , INVERCARGILL, Friday. Richard Whittingljam, a brewer, was fined £50 for making fake entries in his books. The case had beeil previously dismissed by the Magistrate on the grounds that errors in the books were due simply to negligence, but tbe Customs appealed to the Supreme Court, which held that there should have been a conviction. Representations will be made to the Minister to have the fine remitted. No costs were allowed. — -c i —
