THE DUNEDIN NORTH ELECTION.

WITHDRAWAL OF THE PETITION. MR THOMSON DECLARED ELECTED. [United Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Thursday. On the Dunedin North Election Petition Court meeting this morning, Mr Solomon, for Mr Barclay, petitioner, outlined the position and facts at length, and said he was satisfied that Mr Thomson was in by a majority of one in the most favourable circumstances to Mr Barclay. Consequently he had advised Mr Barclay to withdraw the petition, and he asked the Court to consent to this course. Mr Thomson was then declared duly elected for Dunedin North. The question of costs will be adjusted between the parties privately.
