Ox Friday afternoon two lads named Ficldes and Hurfit were, by their presence of mind, courage, and ability to swim, the means of saving a child from drowning. It appears that the child waß playing- on the Colliugwood street bridge, and fell through into the deep water below, but luckily the accident was witm i;ed by the two lads above named, and they at once swam to the spot and rescued the child. Best and Bachelder's Company of Christy Minstrels left Wellington for Blr nheim last night. They will play there this week, and arrive in Nelson on Eriday morning, and give their opening performance the lame evening. A meeting of the Nava! Brigade will be held at the Volunteer Committee Room this evening at half-past «even. Attention is directed to an alteration in Mr liobeit Aitken's advertisement, which appears on the third page.
