Auckland, Thursday. At a meeting of Sir G. Grey's supporters he definitely decided that he will stand for Auckland City Ea3t.

Friday. Stevenson's store at Newton waa destroyed by fire at midnight. The flames were kept from spreading to the adjoining buildings despite the insufficiency of water. The loss is entimated at £2400 the insurance being oh the stock £1000, and on the building £400 inthe National.

Mr Ridlers bouse, near Hamilton, was burned down yesterday. It was insured for £100 on the building and JSltiO on the farnitare in the Colonial.

Christchurcb, Friday Mr S. P. Andrews M.H.R. addressed the electors of Christchurch North last night and received a vote of confidence.

Wellington, Thursday, It is understood that Sir Arthur Gordon's hurried departure fromLevuka to Wellington was owing to despatches he received by a steamer arriving at Levuka from either Brisbane or Cooktown.
