Sydney, Wednesday. H.M.S. Wolverine arrived here to-day, and reports having visited Kalo, New Guinea, the scene of the recent massacre, and several of the natives were killed, and possession was taken of the village, but only oue house, the residence of the chief, was destroyed, It believed that the severe punishment in flicted on the Kalo natives will have a salutary efitcfc, and prevent a recurrence of outrages in New Guinea. Small-pox in this city is gradually decreasing, and several patients who have been quarantined at their residences have no?? been removed to an enclosure. . A man named Southcott died in quarantine to-day.
