Sydney, Thursday. Small pox is again increasing ia this city in spite of the most stringent measures that have been adopted by the Board of Health for preventing the spread of the contagion. Another case is also reported to-day from Wooloomooloo. The medical attendants of Admiral, Earl of Clanwilliam have decided his Lordship now to be convalescent. The Detached Squadioa will be detained a few days longer provisioning, coaling, &o. The Bacchante arrived to-day from Melbourne. It is believed, however, that the squadron will be further detained for some days until she has finished provisioning and coaling. Friday. Nothing definite has transpired with regard to the movements of the squadron, but it is now said to be uncertain whether ii; will after all visit Auokland. The Admiral is known to be awaiting farther instructions from the Admiralty. Melbourne, Friday. Arrived last evening — Hero, from New Zealand. Parliament resumed yesterday. It was announced that Mr David Gaanson had resigned his portfolio as Minister of Lands, It was further announced that the prorogation will take place on Wednesday, and that the new session will commence on Friday next. In the Legislative Assembly a discussion took place in regard to the action of the late Commissioner of Trade and Customs, Mr A. T. Clark, in admitting barley free. Mr Clark was charged with partiality, and with acting ultra vires, and it was Btated by Mr Graves, the new Minister of Customs, that the system would be discontinued. Mr Clark defended his conduct, and then left the Chamber.
