London, July 1. Consols have risen \ and are quoted to-day at 100£. New Zealand 5 per cent 10-40 loan 105; New Zealand 5 per cent 28SO loan 105; New Zealand 4J per cent 1879-1904 loan 103. Adelaide wheat ex warehouse has fallen to 48s 6d. New Zealand wheat is unchanged at 47s ex ship. Adelaide flour ex warehouse 345. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,C60,000 quarters. Australian tallow, best beef, per cwt 36a; best mutton 38a. The total stock of tallow this day is 12,400 casks. Best Scotch pig iron No. 1 f.o.b. in the Clyde per ton 47s 6d. The wool Bales closed to-day. The firm tone of the market was maintained to the conclusion. The total quantity 'sold during the series waa 310,000 bales. The quantity held over for next sales is 40,000. July 2. In the House of Lozds last night a lengthy debate took place on th« subject of thereport of the Commission appointed at tbe instance of Earl Besbcrough to enquire into tbe Irish land question which has recently been tabled. The Duke of Argyle characterised the report as one-sided and altogether unreliable, and censured its recommendations in warm terms. Ear! Granville condemned the discuaiion of the report at the present juncture, and said he feared the tone of the debate which had taden place was a had augury for the fate of the Irish Land Bill when it reached the House of Lords. Ihe homeward Australian and New Zealand mails, which left Auckland on the 24th May, were delivered here to-day.
