Stdnby, Monday. Arrived last night— B.M.S. steamship City of New York from San Francisco, via Auckland; and to-day the Rotorua from Russell. News to hand from the femora goldfleld reports that heavy lams hare lately fallen there> and it is estimated that uuffielent water has been stored to wash 30,000 loads of stuff. Melbourne, Monday. Mrs Jones, of the Glenrowan Hotels who was committed fdr trial on & charge bf harboring the fcellys, has been acquitted. Tuesday. Extensive preparations are being made for the reception and entertainment of the Royal Princes on the arrival here of the detached squadron. Several grand balls will be given, including one by the Mayor in the Exhibition building. Adelaide, Tuesday. Mrs Newton, a passenger by the Orient steamship Potosi, which arrived on Sunday from England, ha 3 met with an accident on beard that vessel, resulting in her death.
