[By Telegraph.] The Camp, 1 p.m. The weather being dull again this morning was favorable for shooting, there being a capital light; \ Paytfter being the highest scoter in the tflatch between the North and South Rifles yesterday takes the Challenge Cup, and, having now won it three years at intervals; it becomes his absolute property. Matches 16 and 17 began this morning at six o'clqck, but the latter is onl/just finished with the following result :~ MATCHNo.'I7.' Rifes Compant's Challenge Match To be fired for by representatives of Volunteer Companies in New Zealand, under the, following conditions:— Ench team to consist of flve ; members of any Volunteer corps in New Zealand armed with rifles. Seven shots at each range. Entrance fee, £2 10s per team. Prizes j Ist. The Rifle Challenge Cup, (to be held by the team for twelve months) and £24 to the. highest team; £10 to the second highest team ; and £5 to the third highest team.
The other teams and their totals are : — Westland Rifles 420 ; Spring Creek Rifles : 409; Blenheim Rifles 428 ; Stoke Rifles 428; Thames Scottish 420; Wellington City Rifles 427; North Dunedin Rifles 426; Nelson City Rifles (No. 2) 418. 2 50 p.m. The firing will not be over until late this evening.or. early to morrow morning. The match North v. South Carbines, which was reported to have fallen through, will be fired late this afternoon. 3 30 p.m. The Alexandra Cavalry and Thames Navals have'j'ust fired oflfor second place in the 17th Matcb, the tie being decided by the highest score at the last range. The result was that the former made 101 to the latterY 99. • Matches 14, 15, and 19 are all being fired now, but are not. likely to be over until after the Telegraph oulce closes here at 4 o'clock.
