DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT DUNEDIN.

INSURANCE £0900. Dunedin, Monday. A destructive fire occurred on Sunday and destroyed R. iludsou's flour mill and bakery and biscuit factory behind tho new Coffee Palace aud the premises known as the old Masonic Hall. Nothing is yet known as to the origin of the fire. The following are the insurances :— On the building £2000 in Standard ; on the Coffee Palace £1000 in the Victoria, £1000 in the Standard and £150 in the New Zealand. On the plant and stock, £500 in the Colonial ; on the plant £250 in the Colonial, and £750 in the South British. On the stock, £500 in the South Britiish. On the machinery £750 in the New Zealand. The damage to the Coffee Palace building is estimated at £1000. Hudsona loss is heavy. A fire broke out at ten minutes past one o'clock on Saturday night in a four roomed houße owned and occupied by Mr Harrold, Brown-street. Very little could be done ou account of the scarcity of water, and just before the Brigade arrived it seemed probable that Campbell's house adjoining would be destroyed. It however escaped with a scorching. The tenement in which tho fire originated was, with the whole contents, completely burnt. Mr Harrold is at present away on a trip to Melbourne. Mrs Harrold on Saturday night went out at half past 8 o'clock leaving a kerosene lamp iv the back room, his furniture was insured in the Transatlantic for £150, and Campbell house was insured in the National for £150, Wright's furniture is covered, by a policy in the same office for £100. The risks on the house in the Union expired on the Ist. Harrold's house was insured in the Transatlantic for £200.
