Westtort, Monday. The steamer Charles Edward in coming from Grey mouth struck a sunken rock off the Steeples, and knocked a hole in her bottom. She steamed ahead, ahd the water rose in the engine robin. She then anchored. Downing, who escaped trom the Lunatic Asylum a few days ago, was recaptured yesterday. The weather is very hot, and harvesting 19 progressing most satisfactorily. All kinds of grain are in splendid condition.
