London, January \*l (afternoon). It has been arranged that the sculling match between Hanlan and Laycock shall, the state of the river permitting, take place on Saturday afternoon next, the 22ud inst. .In the House of Commons to-day the debate on the address in reply to the Queen's; speech was resumed. Mr Justice M'Carthy, the Home Rule member for County Longford, Ireland, moved a9 an amendment that the Government should refrain from using the military to enfor c the ejectment of teuants until the Land Bill was passed, and he made a lengthy speech in support, of his motion. Mr Gladstone, in reply, said that ho deemed the proposed amendment as an in ault to the Throrje, and as an attempt to obstruct the action of the Government. He hinted that strong measures would be taken to prevent any such obstruction. Mr Parnell also spoke on the motion, and in the course of bis speech admitted that the ultimate object of the Land League was to secure autonomy for Ireland. He deprecated the commission by the Legislature of any act likely <o lead to revolution, but added that the first arrest under a measure of coercion would be the signal for the complete repudiation of rents by Irish tenants. The debate lasted during the whole sit-, ting, and was further adjourned until to-; morroTT. January 18.
