Jan. 18, schooner Australian Maid, 16, Gilbertson, from Fern Town. SAILED. Jan. 19, steamer Lady Barkiy, 30, Walker, for Golden Bay. The Lady Barkly sailed for Golden Bay tbis morning. The Murray leaves for Wangaliui at 7 o'clock this evening. The Charles Edwaut was unable to leave Hokitika to-day oq account of the hard south weßt weather and heavy sea. The Kennedy from West Coast ports was signalled when we went to press. She sails for Wellington direct at 9 o'clock to-night. The Patea will sail for Patea to-morrow, instead of the 21st instant as previously advertised. The Penguin left New Plymouth at 10 o'clock tHs morning, will arrive here tonighf, nnd sail at Ham. to-morrow for Pic ton, Wellington and Lyftelton. • " The Hawea leaves Wellington to-morrow afternoon, will arrive here on Friday morning, and sail for Taranaki and Manukau by the same tide at noon, The Tararua will be the next steamer for Melbourne, leaving Welliugton on Monday. Passengers will have to leave here by the Penguin to-morrow. The Wakatu will arrive here from Wanganui to morrow morning, and sail for Wangarmi and Wellington at 7 p.m. Tb.9 next of the Orient Line of steamers for Plymouth will be the John Eldev, which leaves Melbourne on the Bth of February. The last opportunity of catching her will be by the Tararua. It is notified that the Union Company have extended the time for issuing sppcial excursion tickets to the Melbourne Exhibition to the 31st March. Messrs Sclandera and Co have received advice that the Northumberland sails from Wellington for London on the 29th instant. Passengers who have booked and those intending to do so are reminded that they will require to leave by the steamer on the 27th instant. The Grey River Argus of Friday last has the following paragraph: —" Rather a strange circumstance happened in connection with the p.s. Dispatch. Yesterday morning the vessel was -lyi"g alongside the wharf, Mawhera Quay, when it was discovered about six o'clock to be nearly full of water. Assistance was at once procured, pumps rigged, and the services of the donkey engine brought into requisition, when the coals were taken out, find the water got rid of. The cause has noi yet bepn discovered, but there are certain suspicious circumstances in connection therewith that demand a searching inquiry." The vessel is suspiciously old, and probably needs repairing. .
