Won by half a length. Twenty- tbrei horses started. Time, lmin 3|secs. It was a very fast race. Mares' Produce Stakes, a sweepstake of 1C Boys each, h. ft., with 100 aided. For three year olds, the produce of mares covered in 1876— colts, Bat lOlbs; fillies, Bat 51b. The winner of the V.R C. Derby, 188 D, lo carry filbs extra. The second horse to receive 50 BOVB and the third 20 soys out of the stakes. One mile and a quarter. (188 Bubs.) Grand Flaneur... ... l Progress ... ... 2 Mulatto ... ... 3 Six horses started, and Flaneur won comfortably by a length. Time, 2m'ma llf sees. V. R. 0. Handicap, a sweeptakes of 7 soys each, 3 ft, with 150 added. For three year olds and upwards. One mile and three-quarters. Mata 1 Pontiff 2 Leander ... ... ... 3 Won by half a length. Time 3 mina 6£ sees. Mata was the favourite in this rnce with the New Zealanders, who backed him freely. Melbourne, Saturday. Mr Gaunson presented the petition for the reprieve of Ned Kelly to His Excallency the Governor this morning. The proposed procession to Government House was abandoned. Numerous other petitions are being signed to the Exective Council for the reprieve of Kelly.
