[Special to Melbourne papers.] (Per Arawata>t the Bluff.) London, September 21. General Skobeloff is returning to Russia in order to take command of the Russian army in the event of the invasion of T urkey.
It is stated that the continued contumacy of the Porte will lead to the blockade of the Hellespont by the combined fleets. September 22. The Albanians threaten to burn Dulcigno. Admiral Seymour haß been directed to bombard Dulcigno and the other Albanian towns if Dulcigno is not surrendered within two days. The Standard states that the overtures said to have been made by Russia to France last year were made, not to M. Waddington, but to Gambetta. September 27Mr Pflrnell presided over a meeting held at New Ross at which 20,000 persons were present. It was proposed that tenants should pay a fair rent for their holdings and that after 35 years the land should become their own. ; A meeting of Orangemen has been held at Portadowh to express sympathy witti the Rev Mr Kidd who recently suggested that they Bhould retaliate for the attacks on the landlords by shooting the priests and Catholics. The strike in Lancashire has been averted, the workmen having abandoned their claims.
