CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the « Evening Mail." Sir, — Will you allow me, in justice to Mr I Acton Adams, to state that yesterday we found in our office a letter dated the sth November, 1879, addressed to A. Adams Esq., written by Mr. Robert Donald from Wakapuaka, and containing the terms offered by him for the purchase of the Marahau property. The letter was tied up with a bundle of deeds and papers of Mr Peter Donald, which I find, on reference to our day-book, were under consideration in our office at the time of the first trial Adams v. Boyes, and this letter being folded and marked outside "R. Donald" was, I have no doubt, inadvertently put up with Mr P. Donald's papers. It was found there, when the latter came again into requisition, by our clerk Mr Philip Topliss, who handed it to me remarking that he had found a letter relating to the sale of Marahau though not " the pink letter," this letter being on common white note-paper with blue lines. I was at first puzzled by the discrepancy between its contents and its color, and when I took it over to Mr Percy Adams he- also at first thought the letter was to come ; but from its date and tenor, from the place where it was found, and from what Mr Acton Adams and Mr J. C. Harley say, I am satisfied that it must be the missing letter, mistakenly called "pink," and that it must have been brought over to our office with the other papers at'the time of the trial, as the latter gentleman stated, though it first came to my. knowledge yesterday. Yours, &c, September 9, 1880. A. S. Atkinson.
