The fortnightly meeting waa held last night. Present j The Maybr, Crs Levien, Johns, Greig, Trask, ahd Hounsell. A letter from Messrs Griffin & Son, complaining of the reduction of the water pressure, was referred to the Gas and Waterworks Committee; A recomiuenclation of tbe Finance Com-mittee-that Mr Gorrie's claim for compensation be not acceded to wag adopted, and it was fcesolved tbat Mr Pitt be retained to defend any action that might lie brought. Mr Rout was appointed valuator in the matter of an exchange ot roads between the Council and Mr Sharp, the understanding being that tbe Council was to be put to no expense in tbe affair. Cr Harley was appointed on the Public Works Committee, and Crs Johns and Greig on the Gas and Waterworks Committee. Inference waß made to the fact that the barriers placed by order of the Council to prevent Vehicles Crossing .the Collingwoodstreet bridge bad been removed, and that carriages bad been seen crossing the bridge during the day. Considerable indignation was expressed at this open defiance ;of the Council's instructions, and it was resolved that the Town Clerk take steps tb ascertain who was the offender, and if he was successful in making the discovery that he should immediately take out a summons. . The Town Clerk was instructed to give notice to Mr John Scott to clear the gorse from a piece of land he had been permitted by the Council to fence in Quebec«street. The Council then adjourned.
