LONDON, AugUSt 10. In the House of Commons to-day the Marquis of Hartington , Secretary of State for India, replying to certain remarks which had been made regarding the evacuation of Cabnl, defended the withdrawal of the British from that city. He said it was not now of any political importance that the troops should remain there, and General . Stewart bad fully concurred in the proposal to remove them. Intelligence has been received that Carter and Cadenhead, two members of fche Belgian expedition now exploring in Africa, have been murdered by the natives. Arrangements have been made for a sculling match on the Thames between Laycock of Sydney and Blackburn for £100 a side. Inthe cricket match, Australians, versus eighteen of Bradford, the home team in their first innings scored 66, and the Australians in their firsfc innings 95. The Bradford eighteen in their second innings made 69, and the Australians 41 without the loss of a wicket, thus winning the match by ten wickets. Calcutta, August 10. Intelligence has been received from Candahar to the 6th instant. General Primrose reports that the citadel is in a complete stato ' of defence, and he is provisioned for 25 days. Ayoub Khan with the bulk of his army is encamped at Kokhran near Candahar.
