INTERCOLONIAL.
Melbourne, Monday. A Magistrate named Hearne was returning from church at Harrow (about 250 mibs to the west of Melbourne) when he was stopped by a gang under the leadership of a man named Reilly, who threatened to shoot U;e Magistrate unless he obtained a cheque for £300. Refusing compliance, Mr Hearne was incarcerated with his family in a deserted hut, hut one of tbem escaped aud gave the alarm to the police. The latter arrived and surrounded Reilly's gang who refused to surrender and threatened to shoot Mr Hearne if the police attempted to arrest them. The . gang were at last arrested after four hours without a shot being fired. Ned Kelly was again brought up at the Police Court to-day and remanded. " Tuesday. Arrived— -P. and 0. Company's steamer Hydaspes with the inward Suez mail dated London Jure 4. It now transpires tbat the elder Reilly, the leader of tbe Harrow gang of bushrangers, had a grudge against Mr Hearn, the Magistrate, and this is said to be the cause of the balling up. It is believed that Reilly is insane.
