In the Legislative Council last night a , letter was read from the Hon W. B. Dally tendering his resignation. An anti-Chinese meeting was held last night, at which a petition to Parliament was adopted, praying for the immediate passage through the Legislature of an Act of one clause requiring the steamer Brisbane, now quarantined here with 215 Chinese and with some cases of small pox on board, to ! depart immediately without discharging, under a penalty of £20,000. Brisbane, Friday. A Commission has been appointed to inquire into the cause of the heavy mortality which has taken place among the Kanakas on a plantation near Maryborough.
