CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.' Sir— Beiug a novice in the classificatiou \ of certificates, will you kin lly inform me what is the object of an extra one. Consulting a very high authority, namely, Webster's Dictionary, I find " extra" means over and above an ordinary subject ; " delicacy " means something pleasing by its fineness, minute accuracy, elegance, &c. The drawing bearing "extra certificate for delicacy of drawing," has only received the tenth in order of the second class certificates. Four of the same name being pupils of Mr Pownall's, we are at a loss to know who is entitled to the extra one, or who the tenth is intended for. — I am, &c, F.1.8. To the Editor of the "Evening Mail." Sir, — I understand some remarks were made at the Coroner's inquest on the body of Mrs Wilkins with reference to my house. I beg to state I never encouraged Mrs Wilkius, but her children frequently came to my house and asked for money to buy food, which I never refused. The last occasion was on Sunday, the 7th inst. On Saturday, the 13th instant, about 5 p.m. Mn Wilkins called and asked for a ihilliag for food, which I gave her. She stated then that she had received her blow with a broom handle at about two o'clock. You will oblige by inserting this.— l am, &c, W. 11. Scott.
