CRICKET MATCH.

WAKEFIELD V. NELSON. After lunch on Saturday afternoon the wickets of ihe Wakefield men went down very quickly before the bowling of Wigzell and Mountier, the last wicket falling for 39. The Nelsonians after a short interval again went to the wickets, Nay lor and Rout being the first, two to go in. The latter was immediately bowled by T. Eden, whose two next balls also disposed of S. Bolton and White. Halliday then came to the rescue, and he and Naylor made a stand for a time.' After Naylor had retired before a beauty from G. Fowler the remainder of the team completely collapsed, the total amounting to only 27, leaving Wakefield 4 to get to win. These runs it was thought they would get without the loss of a wicket, but four of the best bats succumbed to the splendid bowling of Mountier and Burns before the required 4 were made. The display of cricket all through the match was not first rate, and this must be accounted for only by the facts that the ground was too heavy and that neither side had its best learn on the ground. Halliday played by far the best innings of the day, making 1 1 by very pretty play. The following are the full scores : — Nelson.
