PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT UNDER tbe Distinguished Patronage ol liia Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction- from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil /ound in the trade instead of our Eucalj ptus Extract. So far da the committing of imposition against the publio in such a case is concerned, the eonseq.uen.ces would not be serious ; bat as the qualities of both of the products are In many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a ■ medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought cn by the application ot a medicament must increase inflammation, aad it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. tho curative power ot our extract. on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of oar extract must impair the diseased * The truth of onr assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our: extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels onr trade .mark and signature.
