frBBSB AQENOr.] HORRIBLE DOUBLE MURDER AND SUICIDE. Wellington, Wednesday. Rodolph Miller about 18 years of age, is ■opposed to have killed bi» father and mother, and then himself. When, the alarm was given people found Mrs Miller lying on the floor with her throat cut from car to ear And quite dead. Mr Miller, who was an old man, was found with his tbroat cat also from ear to ear, besides four large deep parallel gashes on the side of bis head, and large bruises, where it is supposed he received a blow from the bntt end of a gun which was found, newly discharged, broken in two lying on the floor with blood and hair on the stock. It is supposed that the gun was first discharged at the old man, and then he was struck with it. Oo the back steps young Miller was found on bis back with his throat also cut from ear to ear. The father and mother's throats were cut with a Want carving knife, but another knife was found beside the body of the son. The room was full of powder smoke when the people entered. Miller is over sixty years of age, and was for many years manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Wellington; latterly he was in the Government Insurance Department. The only children here were two— the one found dead and another— both of whom were apprentices at Mills' foundry. There is insanity in the family; another son having recently committed spicide at Greymouth. Iv anticipation of the alteration in the tariff a large quantity of goods were taLen out of bond and the receipts at the Customs yesterday were £3187, or more than the whole of last week. About 9000lbs of tobacco were withdrawn from bond, aDd tea, sugar, and bottled beer, were also taken out in large quantities. The duty on timber causes a loss of £600 to Messrs Turnbull and Co. on a cargo by the Hawkhope now overdue. It is stated by the morning papers that last night, while the Naval Brigade were drilling, they discovered a boy, about 14, btagiag. Alter being cut down and sufficiently recovered to speak, lie gave no reason for his act. He cleared out as soon as attention was withdrawn from him. The police •re looking for him. (From a correspondent) Wellington, Tuesday night. The reception of the Slateraeut in the House, all things considered, was very good. The only portion which elicited anything like displeasure was the announcement regarding the discontinuance of the subsidies to local bodies. It appears Sir George Grey had a most magnificent oration prepared and all ready for delivery in anticipation of the ieitoposition by the Government of the tea and sugar duties, and as, after all, the [Government did not impose them, Sir George Grey was so cross and captious that [the sight was ludicrous. He has not quite lecovered his serenity yet.
