PARLIAMENTARY.

HOUSE. Wellington. Saturday night. [Through some neglect on the part of our correspondent the following report of Friday night's Parliamentary proceedings was not telegraphed to us until Saturday evening.] On the question of adjournment last night the Government were defeated by a majority of two. Fisher, George, Gisborne, Grey, Hamlin, Harris, Hislop, Hutchison, Ireland, Lundon, Macandrew, McDonald, Montgomery, Pyke, Reeves, Reid, Seddon, Sheehan, Shephard, Shrimski, Speight, Stewart, Swanson, Tainui, Tawhai, Te Wheoro, Thomson, Tole Turnbull, Wood. ~Nobs 36— Adams, Allwright, Atkinson, Bain, Beetham, Bowen, Brandon, Brice, Fulton, Gibbs, Hall, Hirst, Hursthouse, Johnston, Kelly, Kenny, Levin, Masters, McCaughan, McLean, Moorhouse, Murray, Oliver, Pitt, Richmond, Rolieston, Saunders, Seymour, Stevens, Sutton, Tomoana, Trimble, Wakefield, Wbitaker, Wallis, Wright, Paiks — For : Colbeck, Wallis, Moss, Shanks, Hurst. Against : Wbyte, Driver, Dick, Mason, Studholme. The result was received with cheers by the Opposition. Mr Hall said that two gentlemen had just entered the House who were supporters of the Government, but who were not present during the division and had not paired. Mr Allwnght,-in explanation of his vote against the adjournment, said it was on the grourd that he was pledged to support the Trier -\ial Parliaments Bill. When, however, the p otion of want of confidence was brought forward by the hon. member for Port Chalmers he would probably vote for it. Mr Sheehan moved that the debate be adjourned until Tuesday next, and, in doing so, said his party intended to give the Ministry fair play. The House then adjourned.
