The following appears in the Ashbnrton Evening Herald ;— " We are able to give the substance of a telegram despatched by a member of the Government, intended for Mr Ingles of Kaikoura, (who is contesting the Cheviot seat with Mr Alfred Saunders), but which, through some blunder of the Telegraph department was delivered to Mrs Inglis of Kaikoura, Hawke's Bay :—' Will you contest Cheviot with Saunders on the platform of the Governor's speech. Our party will give you all the support- we can, and if you consent, your claim for consideration shall receive attention, whether you are successful or not.— (Signed.) Whitmore
