MAGISTRATES' COURT.

Before G. Gillow and C. de V. Teschemaker, Esqs., J. J.P. Henry Clouston wa3 charged under the Municipal Bye Laws with allowing three horses to be at large. Captain Clouston admitted their being out, but said someone had taken down the rails. He was fined 6s and costs 7s. John Eatwell for allowing a horse to stray in Halifax street was fined 3s and costs. Peter Engei for permitting hia cow to wander in the streets was fined 5s and costs. Mr Engel's man said the cow was tethered, but broke away. An information had been laid by Henry Brown charging Dojald Stewart with assaulting him by striking him on the bead with a gun, but the charge was withdrawn. Several debt cases were also set down for hearing, but all were either settled out of Court or adjourned.
