Melbourne, Monday. Mr Finlayßon, who for many years was Secretary to the Melbourne and Hobson's Bay United Railway Company, has been shot dead by an employee in the traffic department The motive for the deed is unknown. Tuesday. The sculling match for the championship of Victoria is fixed to take place on the 23rd August, between Hearn of Wellington and Messenger the present champion, Sydney, Monday. A meeting of delegates at Waratah decided to abandon the Vend scheme, owing to the dissension between the collieries.
