The Opposition had a meeting this morning, when they decided that Sir W. Fox should follow the English precedent, and mofe the addition of a clause to the address in reply, condemning the administration and praying the Governor to call other advisers to his counsels. An intrigue has been going on amongst the Ministerialists to set up a new Ministry under Mr Ballance or Mr Montgomery, but it is thought not likely to come to anything. A fatal accident occurred at Gibbs and Clayton's sawmills to a young man named Fox. He had placed a bag on the shaft, and while riding on it, his clothes became entangled and he was twisted round and had both legs broken and one arm torn from the body. He died soon after admission to the Hospital. Tim arc, Friday. Detective Neil made a very clever arrest last evening of a man named Thomas Griffin, accused of stealing a gold watch and chain valued at £20 from A. McAusland in the Club Hotel. The stolen articles were found on Griffin when he was searched. Shiuping operations have been greatly retarded of late owing to the continued rough seas. The bad weather experienced here during the last six weeks has been unequalled since the district was settled, both as regards severity and protraction. De Lias the proprietor of the Theatre Royal, obtaiued a judgement against one of a party of five publicans in the vicinity of the Theatre who promised to pay him £l per week each while he kept the Theatre open. One who signed tried to get out of it and the others made joint cause with him. The Court upheld the agreement.
